What is alcoholics anonymous?

Answer:
Alcoholics Anonymous, or AA, is a worldwide organization dedicated to helping men and women stop drinking alcohol.

Alcoholics Anonymous was founded on June 10th, 1935
by Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith.

Alcoholics Anonymous does more than just change a person's drinking behavior, it encourages a transformation of the person's character.  It promotes a change in personality that would be sufficient enough to stop a person from drinking.

Alcoholics Anonymous is a volunteer program, and as such, it is deemed a "not-for-profit organization".  It is free to those who show up to the meetings and is funded by donations.
