What is patent law?

Answer:
Patent law is a set of laws regarding the use
of patents to protect an entrepreneur from piracy or plagiarism.

Patent laws usually provide for a 20-year lifecycle of a patent.  Patent laws vary from country to country, but are usually enforcable laws protecting manufacturers from someone pirating or plagiarising their work.

Patent law violations are usually handled in civil court (an example is the Recording Industry Association of America suing people who download music for free), and are usually enforced through fines or other types of civil litigation.

When a person sues for patent law violations (copyright infringement), they usually seek monetary compensation and an injunction against future infringements.
