What is MSRP?

Answer:
MSRP is the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price
and is a sale price set by manufacturers.  Retailers can sell above or below this price.

MSRP labels are often found on automobiles and is often referred to as the "list price", and the United States Fair Trade Statutes allowed for a fixed price on items sold.  Most other products on the market do not show the manufacturer's price, only the retail price.

Manufacturers are starting to set their MSRP based on the "street value" of the product, or how much they anticipate buyers will pay for the product on the free market.  This helps reduce a retail store's false advertising, as most retail stores would claim the MSRP was unreasonably high and their prices are much lower just to claim they can get the products at a discount.
