What is Affiliation?

Answer:
Affiliation is “the
act of becoming formally connected or joined.”
For instance, with Internet based marketing an affiliate can be a business partner of another Internet business. An affiliate might bring about or drive Internet traffic to another business by the affiliate’s marketing efforts. Depending on how much traffic an affiliate might bring the company the affiliate has joined with may compensate the affiliate.

In affiliate marketing, there are four main or core players. These players include the Merchant, the Network, the Publisher and the Consumer. (This market has grown so much that there are also agencies which manage affiliates and super-affiliates as well as third-party vendors.) With search engine optimizing (SEO), affiliate marketing can use one website to drive traffic to another website – this is one form of online or affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing carries a fairly low profile on the marketing scale; however, affiliate marketing continues to play a significant role in online marketing strategies. If you have an online business you may want to consider affiliates as part of your overall online business plan. Being in “affiliation” may be a great way to increase the bottom line of your online business venture.
