What are SEC filings?

Answer:
SEC filings are the documents that the federal
Securities and Exchange Commission requires publicly traded companies to file on a regular basis about the financial health of the business.

SEC filings are used by investors and those involved in the stock market to determine the value they are willing to pay for a particular stock and to help them evaluate whether they should invest in a specific company.  The information contained in the SEC filings includes quarterly and annual financial reports, debt the company is currently carrying, whether or not there has been any internal change in ownership, such as insider stock transactions, and reports of individual stock owners of more than 5%.  SEC filings are public documents and available to anyone who wants to see them.
