What is Direct Response Marketing?

Answer:
Direct Response Marketing is a type
of marketing that uses promotions that solicit an immediate and measurable response from a recipient. For instance, if an advertisement requests that a recipient take a specific action, such as making a phone call or visiting a website, the effort is considered to be direct response marketing.

The elements which characterize direct response advertising include the following:

1) Offer of a product or service

2) Information sufficient for a consumer to make a decision whether to act

3) A call to action

4) Options for response (i.e., visiting a website, making a call)

Direct response marketing is utilized by both small and large companies today. There is no intermediary media involved in direct marketing. One type of direct response marketing today is the “infomercial.” Infomercials are aimed directly to the consumer in the hopes that the consumer will have an immediate response to purchase the advertised item. In fact, there are companies that specialize in the infomercial industry.
