What is Direct Marketing?

Answer:
Direct marketing is a type of advertising or
sales method
where advertisers approach potential customers directly with their products or services. Types of direct marketing include: telephone sales (telemarketing), catalogs, brochures, print ads, and e-mails.

Negative results can’t be measured directly in a direct marketing campaign; however, in many cases the positive effects can be measured. Because of this, direct marketing can be attractive, and profitable, to potential marketers. Many consumers are offended by junk mail they receive in their mailbox or spam in their e-mail inbox. Consumers who do respond to direct marketing tactics, often provide personal information which is placed into marketing databases and often sold to other direct marketers.

Other types of direct marketing can include door hangers, newspaper inserts, magazines, and radio advertising. Internet-based marketing includes e-mail, pay-per-click ads, and banner advertising.
